Pastor Rodney R. Price, Sr.

How It All Started

Reverend Rodney Price Sr., accepted Christ in 1968 at Second Baptist Church in New Orleans, Louisiana where he has been a member for many years. After recieving his diploma form Belford High School in 1974, he served on the Deacon Board for 15 years as Deacon, Evangelist, and Sunday School Teacher under the leadership of the late Pastor Earl Green.

Reverend Price accepted his call to preach the gospel December, 1997. He received his Certificate of License on February 1998 by Pastor Taza Green, ordination by Cornerstone Missionary Baptist General Association Dec, 27, 2008 by Dr. Moses S. Gordon III, President and the late Dr. A. Darnell Jones the Executive Secretary.

He took some online Bible courses through the Old and New Testament at Liberty University College. As years passed after Hurricane Katrina, he moved to Spring, Texas. The Lord laid upon Reverend Price's heart to start a Bible Study class at his house with his wife (Tonda) and three children, Rodney Price Jr, Silicia and Sierra Price. Also friends Lola Alexandria, Norma Morehead, Yvonne and Christina Lima joined in.

September 2009, he was inspired by God to start his own Church. Not knowing how this was going to happen, he relied on the Lord for guidance. Because of his obedience to the Lord, he stepped out on faith and prayed which lead him to where he would start a church. The Lord led him to Pastor Darrell Garrett, who received him with open arms to have service at his church.

On January 10, 2010 Bridgestone Baptist Church started. Two weeks later Sis Denise and Joshua Carter who is from Antioch Baptist Church heeded the call of God to come and help us at our church.

Acts 16:9 "Like Paul in a vision there stood a man of Macedonia and prayed him saying come over into Macedonia and help us."

"We the members here at Bridgestone Baptist Church will never forget the Love, support, spiritual maturity and dedication of the people who have come forth from another church to help us."

Through the preaching of the gospel Bridgestone's membership grew from ten members to twenty-four members in 2010. In 2011 the membership stands at thirty two which is in part due to Sunday school attendance, Bible Study and Prayer Service. Pastor Price baptized seven candidates in 2010 and 6 candidates in 2011.

"Our Motto for the church is to Reach, Preach and Teach. By faith we expect God to do great things in the life of the people here at Bridgestone Baptist Church. He is mindful that the race is not given to the swift, nor the strong, but he that endures until the end."

How It's Going

After the pandemic, our congregation was finally able to return to the church sanctuary for services on Easter 2022. We held services every Sunday, but our pastor at the time, Reverend William Russell, was no longer able to attend and later submitted his resignation.

We continued to worship until Sunday, March 12, 2023, when the Lord sent us Reverend Rodney Price, Sr. He had heard from people in the community that we were still holding services and decided to join us. For the next few months, he continued to preach and teach the word of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

On June 4, 2023, a church meeting was called, and Reverend Price was voted in as our new pastor. From that moment until his official installation, he worked tirelessly for our church. He led efforts to register the church as a 501(c)(3) under the State of Texas, and he also organized essential repairs.

With the help of the congregation and others, we removed raccoons and other insects from the attic, repaired the sheetrock, painted the sanctuary, installed new fans, and replaced the air conditioning ducts. During this time, we held services in the fellowship hall to keep the doors open and continue doing the Lord's will. Once the repairs were complete, we moved back into the sanctuary for regular services.

Pastor Price was officially installed as the pastor of Pilgrim Hill Missionary Baptist Church on September 15, 2024, by Pastor Herman Pickens. As we move forward, we will continue to live by our motto: "Reach, Preach & Teach" the word of God.
